Where is your heart America?

While the article was meant to be a sarcastic take on “Joe the Plumber” and his socialist rantings, the premise of the article absolutely broke my heart.
The focus was on taxes and the claim that Obama wants to take the money out of the hand of working Americans and redistribute it to the ’slobs’ and ‘losers’ in this country. But the best part was the satirical analysis of actually how much a person making over $250,000 would be giving up to help take some pressure off struggling Americans.
Ready for this? $257 bucks.
All of that griping and cries of socialism for $257 bucks!
And that’s in the case of a person that just crosses the tax bracket. I’m even more disgusted with the big corporations out there crying socialism and issuing public threats such as “Under Obama’s tax plan, we will have to reduce our spending which will eventually cost jobs for American workers”.
Really?!
Under John McCain, the largest corporations would recieve $45 Million in tax breaks. And you know what these companies will do with their tax breaks? They’ll open new factories in Taiwan and Indonesia because they can employ 15 workers at $5 a day as opposed to one American at $75 a day.
And with this same money that they used to take away our jobs, they will produce cheap products using cheap materials that eventually make us sick or put us in danger (Case in point: lead paint toys, toxic dog food, tainted baby formula, contaminated heparin).
And when your baby drinks toxic formula or you are injected with contaminated heparin in the hosptial, who is gonna foot the bill? Certainly not the ‘poor’ corporation that put their profit ahead of your livelyhood.
I say these companies shouldn’t get one red cent in the form of a tax break becuase clearly they are doing a wonderful job saving on labor and manufacturing costs and really don’t need additional help from me.
Beyond that, if you are blessed to make more than 95% of the rest of us in this country, how could you be so selfish as to not wanting a small portion of your money going to a single mother of 3 that came down with cancer, is sick to death from chemo and relies on government assistance just to survive?
How can you turn a blind eye to the millions of people facing foreclosure and homelessness, yet you are the first one to rally for a bailout when you see a dip in your 401(k)?
All I can say is this. Your money could be gone tomorrow. All it takes is a few unfortunate turn of events to find yourself homeless and begging for state aid– and one day the policies of greed and selfishness that you advocated may very well come back and bite you when you least expect it.

Here is the fundamental issue that I cannot wrap my head around: Why would you not want to contribute what you can to help lift everyone in the community? The world is a better place when we are all successful. The corporate richies are nothing shy of greedy parasites on this planet; they make their millions off the backs of others while not giving back. And let’s not forget the insane salaries they happily pocket. Sickening.

You are confusing two issues here. Issue one, the reality of the cries of socialism. For those that think we pay too much already with an overabudance of social services, even $295 is too much more.
These same people, again are those that don’t believe in social services, hence they couldn’t care less about that single mother of three. She is an abomination anyway. She should be married and home tending to the kids while her husband works. So why should these people have to pay for “somebody else’s issues.” They don’t believe in helping anybody but themselves. Anything else is “socialism” so you pleas are falling on deaf ears. Unless it affects them directly, the don’t want to hear about it.
Oh I love reading the rants of liberals. You people crack me up. JayMonster reads like someone who spends too much time reading the political insight of Sean Penn & Al Franken.
I work w/ numerous high net worth clients, most of them with net worths in excess of $25 million. Most of them earn over $5 million annually. Every one, EVERY SINGLE ONE, donates in excess of $200,000 per year to very worthy charities that do a lot of good. So this nonsense that rich people only care about themselves is again, ramblings from someone who watches too much Oprah.
The issue isn’t about helping the neediest of our fellow Americans. It’s the notion, perpetuated by the left, that every family earning less than $100,000 is in need of assistance and that those of us evil Americans making more than $250,000 should cough up what we’ve worked hard for to help. Somehow the left thinks it’s wrong for me to think I should spend my money raising my family.
I see entirely too many families that make under $100,000 that live as though they make $250,000. They purchased the house that’s at the upper limit of what they can afford, they have the new plasma TV & drive the Suburban. But somehow the guy who makes $250K is at fault for their troubles & is demonized for expressing what I’ve written here.
I have no trouble helping out the neediest of people, regardless of nationality. I DO have a problem with the gubment telling me I have to cough up more of my money just because Joe Sixpack, who makes a modest $70,000 can’t put gas in his Hummer.

What John McCain doesn’t understand, is the average guy can give a r**ts a** about Ayers, Joe the Plumber, Obama raising taxes or any of the nonsense he’s spewing……my 401K is down 40%, I’m unemployed and he has not given me any answers….Keep up your inciteful blogging. After reading some of the material that was sent home with our kids here about the candidates my position of sitting on the fence has changed.
I don’t think McCain is the man for the job.
He also believes that people should not have to have health insurance and that he will lower taxes for people who buy their own health insurance.Yet, on another matter he believes it is good to help students who don’t have a lot of money to go to college. That is a contradiction if I have ever seen one. Oh yeah and his wife is in charge of a large beer business that her father started.
I also don’t appreciate the fact that Palin totes her special needs child around like she should get special consideration for her special needs child because he has special needs. Where is that special consideration for that avg working person who has a child with say autism struggling to find services to help him or her make ends meet and to take the strain off of that parent even for a short period of time. Of course it is easier for her to deal with him she is a public servant who can call on anyone at anytime to come to her aide. What about those of us who have problems just getting our kid to school.
So anyway that is my rant sorry to visit your blog and rant on the first visit but this is how I feel. I am just glad that someone else finally had the guts to say the words I have been hesitant to say because politics just isn’t my thing. It is kind of like religion the two conversations are hot buttons for everyone.
This really is beautiful; I agree 100%. When large corporations get the tax breaks, I cannot begin to explain how angry that makes me. So many of them (like Wal-Mart) actually reduce quality of life in the towns/cities they are in, because they pay such low wages (to keep those prices low), forcing other stores to do the same, resulting in an increase in the number of people receiving welfare. And for all this, they get the TAX BREAK. It makes sense to make sure that everyone in this country is well fed and sheltered, and has medical insurance. There is too much wealth in this country for it to be in the shape it’s in.
